Police Shoot Man Who Allegedly Shot Siblings In Frankford
PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) -- Police officers opened fire on a suspect after a brother and sister were shot and wounded in Northeast Philadelphia overnight.
The incident started around 3 a.m. in the 2000 block of Margaret Street in the city's Frankford section.
Police say a 22-year-old man shot his 20-year-old girlfriend in the face and then shot her 21-year-old brother in the chest.
Witnesses told police the gunman was riding a bicycle, which police found a short distance away before chasing the suspect into a wooded area near the the 4700 block of Frankford Avenue. That's where police say the man aimed a gun at officers, who responded by shooting the man in the chest.
Police haven't released the names of the victims or the suspect, all of whom were taken to Hahnemann University Hospital.
The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
Police continue to investigate.
