Police Searching For Suspect Wanted For June Murder Of Philadelphia Teen
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – More than a month after an innocent teen was struck and killed by a stray bullet in North Philadelphia, police say they have identified a suspect.
Philadelphia Police are now searching for 20-year-old Sajaad Hall, whose last known address was on the 2800 block of North Vanpelt Street.
Hall is wanted for his involvement in a double shooting and homicide that killed 16-year-old Jameer Haynesworth back in June.
Police say that on June 21st, they responded to the area of 8th and Berks Streets to disperse a large crowd. Once they were on location, gunshots erupted in the area of 7th and Montgomery Avenue.
When officers arrived there, they located Haynesworth on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He later died from his injuries at Temple University Hospital.
Family and friends told Eyewitness News that Haynesworth was a rising junior at Mastery Charter School in Philadelphia and full of promise.
"He loved school, he was an honor student, an A student," his mother, Monica Haynesworth, said of her son.
A second shooting victim, a 20-year-old male, was also found with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Temple in critical condition.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Sajaad Hall is asked to call police.
There is a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
