PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police in the city's Frankford section are hunting for a hit and run driver who struck a man in a wheelchair.
Police say they have strong leads on a hit driver who abandoned his 1997 Chevrolet and ran away after running into a man in his 50s who was trying to cross a heavily traveled street in his wheelchair.
The incident happened around 9 p.m. Tuesday near Frankford Avenue and Elkhardt Street. The driver stopped his car, never bothered to help or call police, instead he made a hasty get-away.
Police impounded the vehicle and they say they know who the driver is, but have not yet found him.
As for the victim, he was in critical condition with multiple injuries at Temple University Hospital where officials believe he will recover.
