Police Searching For Hit And Run Driver In Frankford

By Jim Melwert

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say a driver lost control of a car and slammed into at least a six parked vehicles early Wednesday morning.

It happened at about 1 a.m. in the 4500 block of Griscom Street in the city's Frankford section.

According to investigators, the driver and passenger hopped out of the Nissan 370Z and ran off. They remain at large.

At least five cars and a pickup were struck, including a Lexus GS350 owned by Jeffrey Joyner. He was awakened by what sounded like a bomb blast.

"It looks like Godzilla took a bite out of my car, out of the driver's side," Joyner said. "It looks like a can opener just peeled the side off the car. Can you believe these are doors right here? These mangled pieces of metal are doors."

Joyner says his car just came out of the shop after getting rear-ended.

Police are checking with neighbors to see if there is any surveillance video of the incident. The Nissan that did all of this damage might have been stolen.
