Police Searching For Camden Man Accused Of Killing U.S. Marine

CAMDEN, NJ (CBS) – A man wanted for questioning in connection with the murder of a U.S. Marine has now been charged with murder.
Police are searching for 31-year-old Darrell Crone, of the 1200 block of Park Boulevard in Camden. On Monday night, Crone was charged with Murder for killing Timothy Loper, Jr.
"We deem Darrell Crone to be an extremely dangerous individual," said Chief Scott Thomson, of the Camden County Police Department. "We believe him to be armed. We know that he cowardly shot a former Marine."
According to police, Loper was attempting to break up a fight outside the 20 Horse Tavern in Camden around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday when Crone pulled out a gun and began firing.
Loper was struck by a bullet and killed.
On Monday night, Loper's father told Eyewitness News the family wants his son's killer brought to justice.
"All we want is a little closure," he said. "It was a cowardly move. You took an innocent man for no reason."
Loper's family also says he had recently started college, and that he leaves behind a wife and a six-year-old daughter.
"This young man had bravely served his country and deserved much better than being killed in such a senseless act of violence," Chief Thomson said. "We need the community to help us locate Darrell Crone so we can remove him from our streets."
