Police Say Last Minute Christmas Shopping Lands Two South Jersey Men In Jail

CHERRY HILL, NJ (CBS) -- Most of us finished our holiday shopping well before Christmas morning. But apparently not three South Jersey men, who police said were caught on camera breaking into the Cherry Hill Mall.
Shortly before 5 a.m. on Sunday, while you were dreaming of sugar-plums, the suspects apparently had another fruit in mind.
"They went to the Apple Store, and broke into the Apple store and started filling their bags," said Cherry Hill police lieutenant William Kushina.
According to Kushina, the three men pitched landscaping rocks through the glass doors to the mall and the Apple store, and grabbed every shiny piece of gear they could get their hands on.
"It was a total of a little bit over $35-thousand," said Kushina. "$35-thousand-eight-hundred-one."
But mall security was watching, and called the cops.
A quick car chase ended with the suspects stuck in a dead-end.
Police said they ditched the stolen ride and the loot and made a run for it. Two 22-year-olds from Willingboro, New Jersey, Velencio Creque and Travis Lawson, were arrested.
The two suspects faced burglary and other charges, and were being held on a little more than $100-thousand cash bail.
Police were searching for a third suspect.
