Police Release Surveillance Video Of Armed Suspect Wanted In Auto Garage Robbery
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the armed suspect who they say robbed an automotive repair shop in North Philadelphia.
According to Philadelphia Police, Wednesday's incident happened at about 11 a.m. at Arm Enterprise, located at the 1200 block of Ridge Avenue (See Previous Story).
Police say the suspect approached an employee asking questions about vehicle inspection stickers. Investigators say the suspect then pulled a handgun from his left pants pocket and pointed it at the employee, demanding the vehicle inspection stickers.
According to police, when the employee ran into the office, the suspect allegedly fired two shots into the garage area. Investigators say the employee then ran from the office across Ridge Avenue with the suspect chasing him. When the suspect caught up to the employee, police say he allegedly placed the gun to the employee's back, forcing him back to the shop.
Police say the suspect made off with inspection stickers and an undetermined amount of cash. He fled on foot north on Ridge Avenue.
The suspect is described as a 30-year-old black male with a dark complexion, approximately 5'8," and weighing 150 to 160 pounds. He was wearing a brown hat, grey long sleeve shirt, dark sweat pants and sunglasses.
