Suspect Charged In South Philly Attempted Abduction
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia Police have arrested and charged 33-year-old Carlos Figueroa-Fagot in connection with Tuesday's attempted kidnapping of a 10-year-old girl.
Sources say clues connected to the car the suspect was seen entering led police to Figueroa-Fagot, who was arrested on Thursday.
On Wednesday, officials announced a $10,000 reward was being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect who attempted to grab the girl as she walked along the street with her two-year-old brother.
During a news conference on Wednesday, Philadelphia Police released surveillance video of the shocking attack, which happened on the 2400 block of Lee Street. In the video, the little girl is seen kicking and fighting off her attacker before he runs away.
"This is a sick individual to do something like that," said Mayor Michael Nutter. "I want this creep off our streets immediately."
During an exclusive interview with Eyewitness News, the girl's father said his daughter was walking with her brother from her mother's house on nearby Roseberry Street when the man approached her, put his hand over her mouth, picked her up and attempted to take her.
Figueroa-Fagot is now facing a laundry list of charges - including aggravated assault and attempted kidnapping.
