WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. (CBS) -- Investigators search through a dumpster outside of an apartment building where a woman was found dead.
Police say 50-year-old Margaret Ann DePietro lived alone at the Grande Complex in West Deptford.
A family member and friend went to check on her last night around 11 p.m. after not being able to get a hold of her.
That's when they found her in her apartment. She had died from multiple stab wounds.
Abby Cabunilas, a neighbor, says, "I was watching out the window and saw the cops pull up last night."
This woman lives a few doors down and went to school with the victim's twin sons.
"I've never expected anything bad like this to happen to them."
Neighbors say DePietro would go by the name "Peggy" and say she had some health issues.
"I just saw her with a wheelchair and she has a handicap sticker on her car."
Police did not say how she died but rule it a homicide.
Officials do not believe it to be a random attack.
That's eases some concerned neighbors, but they call it tragic.
"It's sad because her kids are nice, it's just sad for anybody to go through that. To find your mom like that it's hard for anybody."
