Elderly Woman, Teen Injured In Mayfair House Fire
By Al Novack
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A house fire in the city's Mayfair section sent two people to the hospital this morning.
Fire officials say a 75-year-old woman who suffered burns over 60 percent of her body is in critical condition and a 16-year-old is listed in stable condition with smoke inhalation.
The blaze was discovered by police inside a home in the 2900 block of Tyson Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. Officers on routine patrol saw the fire and called it into the fire department.
Police helped firefighters rescue the home's two residents, who were apparently asleep when the fire and smoke was spotted.
There's no word if the home had any working smoke detectors. The fire marshal has not determined a cause.
