Police Officer Accidentally Shot By Partner Out Of Hospital
PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) — A police officer hit by gunfire in north Philadelphia during a confrontation in which a suspect was critically injured is out of the hospital.
Chief Inspector Joe Sullivan told reporters Wednesday that SWAT officer Jose Roman was "a little sore" but feeling good — and relieved to have been wearing a bulletproof vest.
Police said he and his partner confronted three men in the Fairmount section of the city just before 10 p.m. Tuesday after a woman said someone pointed a gun at her. Officials said one man pointed a gun at them and the other officer fired, but Roman was hit by a ricochet. He spent the night in Hahnemann University Hospital.
The 21-year-old suspect was taken to Temple University Hospital. Another man was arrested. Two weapons were recovered.
