Police: Man Tosses $175K In Heroin During Chase In Del.
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- Police say a man tossed more than $175,000 in heroin from the window of his SUV while leading officers on a chase through northeast Wilmington.
When Wilmington and New Castle County officers tried to stop 25-year-old Michael Pritchett's Ford Expedition on an off ramp at Gov. Printz Boulevard and Interstate 495 on Tuesday, police say he didn't stop.
Master Sgt. William Barnes says Pritchett tossed a bundle of more than 17,000 bags of heroin out of the window. Later, Pritchett stopped the SUV and took off on foot.
Police later arrested Pritchett coming out of a wooded area in the Augustine Ridge development.
Pritchett is charged with trafficking in heroin over 50 grams and related counts. He is being held on $739,500 bail.
Barnes says the drugs are valued at $176,740.
