Suspect At Large After Allegedly Firing At Officers In Logan
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police have released a man who they originally thought fired at officers early Wednesday morning, they continue to search for the shooter.
Police say a man was reported as trying to break into a car around 6 a.m. in the 300 block of East Ellsworth Street in the city's Logan section when police saw him. According to investigators, the suspect found a gun inside the car that he was trying to break into and fired that gun three times at officers.
The suspect then ran into a nearby home.
The officers did not return gunfire and no one was hurt.
Originally police arrested a man they believed was the suspect, but later ruled him out as a suspect.
Wednesday evening, police released a statement saying that after conducting a through investigation, they have determined that the male who was taken into custody for aggravated assault against police in the 14th District is not the male who shot at police.
Northwest Detectives is currently pursuing several leads to identify the offender.
