Police: Man Robs Women After Setting Up Meeting Through Social Media
NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – Police are investigating two separate armed robberies that occurred early Saturday morning in Newark, Delaware.
The first incident occurred around 1 a.m. at the Comfort Inn located at 3 Concord Lane.
According to police, the 22-year-old female victim and male suspect met at the Comfort Inn after arranging the meeting through an online social network.
Allegedly, when the suspect arrived at the motel room, he displayed a handgun and demanded money. Police say the suspect received an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim and then fled on foot.
The second incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. at the Econo Lodge located at 100 McIntosh Plaza.
Police say two females, 18 and 19, also contacted the same male through an online social network to set up a meeting.
Officials report the suspect arrived at the room of the two victims, displayed a handgun, demanded money and then fled the scene after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash.
No injuries have been reported.
The man has been described as a 5-foot-9, 20-25-year-old, white male, weighing between 200-220 pounds. He has a stocky build and is armed with an unknown type of handgun.
