Police: Delaware Man Rescued; Arrested For DUI After Crashing Into Pond
NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS/AP) - Police say a Clayton man was drunk and speeding when he lost control of his car and crashed into a retention pond in New Castle, Delaware.
The crash occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Friday. New Castle County police say the driver, 41-year-old Robert Blisard, hit the rear bumper of another vehicle, causing him to lose control of his car and crash into the pond located off the east bound lanes of Commons Boulevard near Reads Way.
The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger in Blisard's car were treated for minor injuries.
Police say a witness helped rescue Blisard by swimming to the vehicle and breaking the back rear window with a hammer.
Blisard was charged with his second driving under the influence offense. Police say he was also being sought for failure to pay a fine for driving without a license.
