Police Look For Second Murder Suspect In Strawberry Mansion Fatal Home Invasion As Family Finds Peace
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A week after losing her oldest son, Antoinette Paul has found peace through faith.
"We're happy now because we're all believers in Christ," said Paul.
John Paul Jr., 35, was shot to death in his Strawberry Mansion home on Cecil B. Moore Avenue last Monday morning. His nickname was Box, for the boom box he carried growing up. He was a role model for his kids and a father for the community.
"My son has never been arrested, never been in no trouble," said Antoinette Paul. "He was support of all the neighbors."
Paul's wife, Sherrell, was shot 8-10 times and survived. She is still recovering at Temple University hospital. Last week, she got to see her kids, John, 13, and Jahlil, 10. The two boys were home during the attack. It was John who called police.
"She's been out of bed and she sat up to see the children the other day," said Antoinette Paul. "She said it was rough."
Police arrested Ali Marsh, 35, in the attack, charging him with murder. But police are still looking for Charles Davis, also 35.
Antoinette Paul says she has the support of her community for her family, and most importantly, for her grandchildren who now have to live a life without their father.
The Paul family has established a fund for John Paul, Jr.'s children called "The Paul Family New Beginnings." Donations can be made at any Citizens Bank.
