Pennsauken Man Fatally Shoots 2 Sons, Killed By Police
PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (CBS) - Investigators say a Pennsauken man shot his three sons, two fatally, before being shot to death by police late Thursday evening.
Police responded to a report of an unconscious male in the 4300 block of Royal Road.
Camden County prosecutor's office spokesperson Jason Laughlin says they discovered that young man was shot, then found another gunshot wound victim on another street, then a report of a fire nearby:
"Three officers approached the home that was on fire. In the rear sunroom, they find a man with a gun, a lighter, and a container of gasoline. This man charges police and they were forced to shoot him and he died from those injuries."
Investigators say 54-year-old Alfred Moton fatally shot his sons, Alfred Moton Jr., 18, and Steven Moton, 12. His 16-year-old son Charles Moton is in critical but stable condition at Cooper Hospital.
It appears Moton shot his three sons in their home then attempted to set his house on fire, causing serious damage.
Officials are still not sure what sparked this shooting -- there was no reported history of domestic violence. Moton's wife was not home at the time.
Pennsauken Police reported no calls for service at that address and no prior experiences with the family that might explain this incident.
Police are still investigating.
