Police: Jealousy May Have Been Motive In Cheltenham Christmas Day Murder
By Brad Segall
CHELTENHAM, Pa. (CBS) - Montgomery County authorities say it appears jealousy over another man may have sparked a Christmas Day shooting in Cheltenham that left one man dead and authorities looking for the murder suspect.
Police say witnesses told them it looked like an execution. The hunt is on for 24-year-old Rayshon Carwheel of Philadelphia. He's wanted for the murder of Robens Borno, who was gunned down early Sunday morning inside a home in the 1400 block of Beech Avenue in Elkins Park. (see related story)
DA Risa Ferman says Borno had just started dating Carwheel's former girlfriend and the mother of his child, "There was no argument; there was no fight. The gunman simply entered the home and fired shots, while the victim was passing tape to be used in the wrapping of Christmas presents."
Borno died of multiple gunshots to the torso. Carwheel has been charged with first- and third-degree murder, weapons offenses and recklessly endangering another person. Ferman says Carwheel may still be in the Philadelphia area, and they're asking for help from the public in locating him. She says he should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be confronted.
