Oxford Circle Home Invasion Victim Describes His Ordeal
By Jericka Duncan
PHILADELPHIA (CBS)- Eyewitness news spoke to the victim of a home invasion. Joe Caceres, 21, described being pistol whipped in the face and the back of his head.
Sunday morning around 3, he says, four Hispanic men broke into his Oxford Circle home in the 1300 block of Friendship Street and ransacked the place for money. The criminals made their way to Caceres' upstairs bedroom, where one of the suspects fired a shot at the ceiling while the others beat Caceres until he bled all over the sheets. His wife and 11-month-old baby boy witnessed everything.
Caceres says the suspects stole more than $10,000 dollars from his dresser drawer. The money came from his family's check-cashing business on the corner of Fairhill and Luzerne Streets in Hunting Park. He says he didn't have time to deposit the money into the bank, so he took it home Saturday night.
Caceres says he and his family moved to the United States two and a half years ago from the Dominican Republic. He says he just moved to the Friendship Street home last week.
