Police Investigate Sexual Assault At Cape May County Cemetery
MIDDLE Twp., N.J. (CBS) -- Police in Cape May County are searching for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman who had just visited a cemetery.
According to police, the attack occurred just before 9:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the Fairview Methodist Cemetery in Middle Township.
Police received a call from a resident on Orbit Drive who said a bleeding woman came to his home, knocked on the door, and asked that police be called.
Police say, the 29-year-old victim, from Avalon was visiting a cemetery plot when she was attacked and sexually assaulted by a man who had been hiding near her vehicle.
The victim said she was able to break free and run to the home on Orbit Drive.
The suspect is described as a white male, thin build, late 20's to early 30's, buzz cut hair with a light beard on the sides and heavier hair on his mustache and chin. He was wearing shorts and a white baggy t-shirt.
The woman was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released.
