WILLOW GROVE, Pa., (CBS) -- Police say several Rolex watches were stolen during a smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store in a Montgomery County mall.
At about 7:30 p.m. Monday, Abington Police say three males entered the Precision Watches & Jewelry Store in the Willow Grove Park Mall.
According to police, they went immediately to the Rolex case and began smashing the top with small sledge hammers, which they brought with them and then left behind. Police say the suspects reached into the case and stole several expensive Rolex watches.
While reaching into the case, police say at least one of the suspects cut himself.
According to police, the store owner feared for his employees' safety and fired two shots from a handgun he was licensed to carry into the ceiling and the three suspects ran out of the store.
Police say other than the cut the alleged suspect(s) received reaching into the broken case, there were no injuries.
According to police, the suspect ran into Bloomingdale's ground level and ran out to the parking lot where a Chrysler mini-van had been circling the lot. They jumped into the mini-van and left the lot. Police say the mini-van was located abandoned in close proximity and just off of mall property.
