Police Investigate Fatal Stabbing Of Drexel Student In Powelton Village
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a Drexel University student in the Powelton Village section of University City early Friday morning.
Drexel senior Evan Morris, 22, was found dead by police in an off-campus residence at about 5 a.m., according to a statement released by Drexel President John Fry.
The statement says Morris was stabbed multiple times in the chest and cheek by a student from another university living in the home in the 3400 block of Race Street.
Morris was pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
According to investigators, the deadly stabbing was reportedly the result of an ongoing altercation between Morris and the suspect.

James Marks, a Drexel junior said, "He's a really good guy to hang out with, always willing to help you out with whatever you need, he was just a good guy."
Barry Bank said, "I was at work and the phone call came from my daughter, she was hysterical."
Bank told Eyewitness News, it was his daughter's live-in boyfriend who was involved in the altercation with Morris, that Morris and the boyfriend had gotten into a fight earlier in the evening at a house party.
"Then they started phone calling him and started texting him and said he had to come out of the house or they were going to break in. They broke through the front door, they broke through the apartment door and they had a knife," Bank explained.
Bank believes his daughter's boyfriend grabbed the knife from Morris and stabbed Morris in self defense. What sparked the initial fight he doesn't know, he says he's still trying to make sense of it all.
"I've known this boy for well over a year. I've never seen him lose his temper. He's always polite as can be to my daughter and all the people he meets. This is a shock," Bank said.
Drexel University officials say a campus alert was not issued because police took the resident into custody and there was no threat to campus students.
Police are questioning the resident on what led to the incident. So far, no charges have been filed.
The deadly stabbing remains under police investigation.
