Police ID Woman Struck, Killed By SEPTA Bus While Pushing Baby Stroller

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police have identified the woman who was struck and killed by SEPTA bus while pushing her grandson in a stroller Monday evening.

Authorities say Lidia Procaccino, 64, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, was hit while she was walking southbound on 23rd and Chestnut Streets just after 5 p.m. Police say she was walking on the crosswalk when she was struck. The 9-month-old infant was unharmed, but taken to CHOP for observation.

Authorities say there were three passengers on the bus at the time of the accident.

According to officials, Procaccino was visiting family members in the city, when she took her grandson out for a walk.

"I feel very sorry for her family," said Steve Antalosky. He lives across the street from Procaccino in Cherry Hill and found out about the accident earlier in the afternoon.

Police say that Procaccino had the right of way when she was walking in the crosswalk and that the driver also had a green light and was supposed to yield.

Authorities say the SEPTA driver is cooperating with the investigation, but she has not been interviewed by the accident investigation division. No charges have been filed.

CBS 3's David Spunt reports that not only did the bus have cameras, but investigators are looking for more from buildings.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
