PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police have identified the driver and two passengers who were killed in a violent crash outside the Franklin Mills Mall Wednesday evening.
Investigators say Anthony Christensen was driving a car that crashed in the 900 block of Franklin Mills Circle at about 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Christensen and two passengers – identified as Lucrecia Santamaria and Christopher Alcalde -- were killed.
According to police, the vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed before it hit a concrete barrier and flipped over. Christensen and Alcalde were ejected from the car, while Santamaria was partially ejected.
All three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
"It appears the vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed and flipped over. There's severe damage to the vehicle. Three of the wheels were torn off. The battery flew out of the engine compartment," Chief Inspector Scott Small explained.
One eyewitness told CBS 3 that the vehicle was driving about 70 mph before the crash.
According to police alcohol or drugs did not likely play a role in the deadly crash.
