Police Hunt For Suspects In Armed Robberies Of 5 Businesses
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Police are searching for three armed suspects who robbed five convenience stores in Philadelphia and Delaware County during a three-hour span.
The robberies happened between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. early Thursday morning.
Investigators say all five of the robberies were committed by the same three suspects and one of the suspects appears in all of the surveillance videos.
At 2:28 a.m., a male suspect approached the drive-thru window on foot of the McDonald's located at 5945 Woodland Avenue and pointed a handgun at an employee demanding money. The employee gave the suspect $58 in cash and he fled on foot.
At 3:35 a.m., the same scenario played out at the McDonald's located at 5601 Vine Street. The armed suspect demanded money, but the employee ran from the window and the suspect fled without taking any money.
At 4:03 a.m., two males entered the 7-Eleven located at 6375 Lebanon Avenue. One of the suspects approached an employee with a handgun demanding money from the cash register. The suspects took $130 in cash from the registers and 100 packs of cigarettes. The suspects then fled on foot.
At 5:12 a.m., two males entered the 7-Eleven located at 1337 South 58th Street armed with handguns demanding money. The suspects forced the employees to open the registers and took $200 in cash, numerous packs of cigarettes and lottery scratch off tickets. The employees believe the suspect got into a vehicle that was parked across the street.
The fifth robbery happened at a store on Main Street in Darby, Pa., but the exact details surrounding this incident have not been released.
