Police: Good Samaritan Catches Purse Snatcher In Cherry Hill
CHERRY HILL, N.J. (CBS) – Police say a Good Samaritan stopped a suspect after he snatched a woman's purse.
The incident occurred on Sunday around 5:15 p.m. outside of the Path Mark supermarket on Church Road in Cherry Hill.
According to police, 24-year-old David A. Zane Jr., of Westville, approached and began speaking with a woman sitting outside of the supermarket before grabbing her purse and attempting to flee.
A Good Samaritan, Gerald Smith, who was waiting for his family to finish shopping witnessed the incident, exited his vehicle and chased the suspect, says officials.
Police say Smith was able to hold Zane until Cherry Hill police arrived and arrested him.
Officials say Zane was wanted in other jurisdictions.
He was been charged with theft and taken to Camden County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 bail.
