Police: 'Frequent Customer' Wanted For Mini Mart Robbery In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia police say a man described as a "frequent customer" of a mini mart is wanted for robbing the store.

On May 4th around 1:55 p.m., an unknown black male wearing a mask reportedly entered the Maria Mini Market located at 2450 West Montgomery Avenue in North Philadelphia armed with a handgun.

The suspect pointed the weapon at an employee and demanded money.

During the incident, police say the employee was involved in a brief struggle with the suspect over the gun, and as other employees came to the front of the store, the suspect fled without cash.

The suspect was caught on surveillance video in the store a few days later and identified as a frequent customer.

Police say the suspect is described as a black male between 23 and 28 years old with a mustache, a small goatee and a tattoo of a name on his right arm. He has a medium build and possibly has a small scar or birth mark on his left knuckle.

The suspect may live in the area of James W. Johnson Homes at 2500 West Norris Street.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact police at (215) 686-TIPS (8477) or text PPD TIP.
