Police: Felon Who Threw Gun Out Of Car In Delaware Charged
LEWES, Del. (AP) — Authorities said a felon arrested in Delaware for multiple traffic violations also tossed a handgun out of his car as a trooper was following him. The alleged incident happened Sunday after a trooper saw Jordan E. Dixon, 21, traveling on a highway in Lewes, Delaware State Police said in a statement.
Officials said the trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop when a computer check revealed that Dixon's vehicle did not have insurance, and had a suspended registration. Police said Dixon failed to make the stop, and committed multiple traffic violations as he continued to drive down the road.
Authorities said the trooper then saw Dixon throwing an object out of his car window before he stopped the vehicle. Investigators later found a handgun and a loaded magazine near the area where Dixon had allegedly tossed out the object.
He has been arrested and faces multiple charges, including Possession of a Firearm by a Person Previously Convicted of a Violent Felony. It was not immediately clear if he had a lawyer who could comment on his behalf.
