Police: Father Witnesses Son's Murder In North Philadelphia
By Tim Jimenez
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say a father witnessed the deadly shooting of his 21-year-old son in North Philadelphia.
It happened around 11 p.m. Sunday at Lawrence and Wingohocken Streets.
Police say the victim was shot in the face right in front of his father, who then chased after the shooter for one block.
Authorities identified the victim as 21-year-old Izzadeen Burgos.
"At that time, the shooter turned around and fired at least two shots at the father," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.
But Small says the gunman missed and fled south on 4th Street in a dark or black Toyota.
Burgos was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he died a couple hours later.
Police were talking to his father and witnesses, but they say they believe Burgos was the intended target.
Investigators were checking surveillance video from the area to help them identify the gunman.
