Police: Couple And 8-Month-Old Son Carjacked In Radnor Township
by Todd Quinones
RADNOR Twp., Pa., (CBS) – In the parking lot of Micro Center a husband, wife and their 8-month-old baby boy were forced into their car by an armed man who then drove off with them inside.
This is the man police are hoping someone recognizes.
Surveillance video shows the husband carting computer equipment to his car. He's followed by his wife and child.
You can see the armed suspect walks up to the front entrance to Micro Center off Lancaster Avenue apparently looking for someone to target.
"With all of the employees here and the traffic this shopping center generates it's really amazing to think they would do that here," said Dan Drennen of Havertown.
Police tell Eyewitness News the man approached the father as he was unloading more than $2,000 worth of computer equipment into his car. The suspect asked if he needed help, before he started to unload some of the equipment himself.
"The male then approached him and said 'get in your car.' He raised up his sweatshirt and displayed a small semi-automatic handgun," said Radnor Township Police Lt. Chris Flanagan.
The suspect then drove the family against their will across the street to Radnor Financial Center and pulled into a back parking lot shortly after 8 p.m. Monday night.
"The actor robbed the individuals of their cell phones, wallet and the female's cell phone, then took all the packages out of the car," Flanagan said.
The suspect put the items he stole into a white Toyota Avalon possibly driven by another suspect and drove away.
Police believe this man may have done something like this before.
"It's scary to think you have to be that worried about someone trying to be helpful to you," said Colleen McGary-Schmidt of Clifton Heights.
Fortunately the family was left unharmed.
Radnor Police are hoping someone recognizes the suspect and calls them immediately. There is also a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects.
