Police Continue To Search For Suspects In Store Owner's Murder In North Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are seeking three suspects following the robbery and murder of the owner of a corner store Saturday night in the Hartranft section of North Philadelphia.
Investigators say Felix Rodriguez was shot six times in the head and back in his small grocery store located at the corner of 9th and York Streets. One investigator described the shooting as "overkill with a gun" since every bullet went through the shop owner's body causing property damage.
Neighbors say 59-year-old Rodriguez, fondly referred to as "Poppy," was a grandfather of a three-year old with cerebral palsy.
"It's a shame, it's a shame."
"He didn't do anything to nobody."
"It's sad for us because we know the man, a good man."
Authorities say there were video cameras in the store and now police are hunting for the three suspects believed to be involved in the shooting.
