Police Close To Solving 2007 Main Line Murder

TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- CBS 3 has learned a three year old murder mystery on the Main Line may be close to being solved.

Tredyffrin Police tell investigative reporter Walt Hunter in an exclusive interview they have now developed new leads in the killing of 60-year-old Michael Caulder inside his home in the 200 block of Vassar Circle on November 14, 2007.

Police say their new evidence also indicates Caulder was the target of a "hit," believed to be a contract killing.

Caulder was found in the bedroom of his home by his wife while their teenage daughter was at school.

So far police say they don't know why Caulder was targeted or who carried out the murder.

Neighbors on the tree lined block of well kept homes tell CBS 3 they are grateful to hear the case is close to being solved. Detectives are emphasizing they may only need one more tip to make an arrest.

Tredyffrin Police want anyone with information to call them at 610-408-3649 or contact ASgt. Bailey at jbailey@tredyffrin.org.
