UPDATE: Police: Driver Of Suspicious Vehicle Comes Forward In Gloucester Township
GLOUCESTER Twp., N.J., (CBS) – Gloucester Township Police say the driver who offered a ride to a child walking to school Wednesday morning has come forward.
Shortly after police released information Friday night about the suspicious vehicle, police say a concerned Gloucester Township resident walked into police headquarters advising that he was the male who had offered the ride to the child.
According to police, a family member who subscribes to the Gloucester Township Police Community Notification System (CNS) had read the recent media release and informed the man, who then realized it was actually him, at which point he immediately responded to notify the police.
Police say the man, who is a parent from the same development that was taking his own children to school Wednesday morning, only wanted to help by offering the ride.
Police credit the successful case closure to the department's use of social media that continues to encourage community involvement.
