Police: Car Split In Half After Hitting Pole In Chester County

EAST BRANDYWINE, Pa. (CBS) – Police are investigating what caused a car to hit a telephone pole in East Brandywine, Pennsylvania.

The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of Zynn and East Reeceville Roads.

According to police, a 2000 Hyundai Tiburon, with two occupants, was headed eastbound on East Reeceville Road at a high rate of speed when it lost control and hit a telephone pole. The impact of the crash split the car in half, snapped the telephone pole and trapped one of the occupants, says police.

The trapped occupant was pronounced dead at the scene, the second occupant was thrown from the car and transported to Paoli Hospital in serious condition.

The names of the victim's have not been released.

Police are still investigating.
