Police: Burglars Caught In The Act Confess To Long List Of Break-Ins

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Police have arrested two men for a series of burglaries in South Philadelphia and Center City.
Lt. John Stanford says they were quite a busy pair of burglars, until they were caught in the act by patrol officers attempting to force open a door to a saloon just before dawn last Thursday.
"Thursday the 23rd, 3rd District officers in the location of 750 S. 7th Street see these two gentlemen attempting to break into that location," Stanford said.
Not long after 24-year-old Tony Kimhong and Chhoeuth Kim were taken into custody, Stanford says they confessed to burglarizing 12 other businesses, mostly restaurants and taverns, half of them along East Passyunk Avenue.
"The first reported happened on April 30th," Stanford says, "then you had one in May and the rest in June and July."
Stanford says the two men arrested had long rap sheets. "The one gentleman has 11 priors, mainly for burglary, conspiracy, criminal mischief, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, robbery. And the other gentleman has 14 priors," he said.
Bridget Foy's, Four Fathers, and Adobe Cafe were among the more well-known establishments that were hit.
The suspects face multiple counts of burglary and conspiracy.
