Police Arrest Man Accused Of Road Rage Shooting In Center City
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police have arrested a 31-year-old man who allegedly shot into a female's car in Center City on Saturday.
According to police, Ali Shaffiat was driving a red Mitsubishi Eclipse and began following the female driving on Lombard Street. The woman says he began honking his horn at her while hanging out of the driver's side window. (See Previous Story)
The victim says when she turned onto Broad Street she heard two gunshots, one breaking her rear window. A second female in the car said she saw the suspect point a gun out of the passenger side window when they turned. The driver also had her four-month-old baby niece in the vehicle at the time of the shooting.
On Tuesday, detectives conducted a search of a red Mitsubishi Eclipse they found in the city. The investigation resulted in a suspect and vehicle match.
Police located Shaffiat on the 1600 block of South 7th Street and arrested him.
He has been charged with aggravated assault and related offenses.
No one was injured in the incident.
