Police: Home Invasion Suspect Forced Victim Into Bedroom Where 2 Kids Were Sleeping, Then Robbed Her
DOVER, Del. (CBS) – Police in Delaware are investigating an early morning home invasion that happened in the Capitol Park development.
Around 1:20 a.m. on Wednesday, a 31-year-old woman called 911 and said she'd been robbed.
Troopers responded to her home on the 100 block of South Governor Boulevard where the victim told her she'd gone outside with her two dogs and noticed a man standing next to a car in the road.
The suspect then asked the victim if he could use her phone due to vehicle issues.
When the woman handed her phone over to the man, he displayed a gun and forced her back inside her home and into her bedroom, where the woman's two children, ages 6 and 4 months, were asleep.
Once inside the bedroom, the suspect rummaged through her dresser drawers and closet before fleeing with jewelry and cash.
The woman and her children were unharmed.
The suspect is described as a black male between 6'0" and 6'2" and 220-240 lbs. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and gloves.
Officials say he was possibly operating a white SUV.
