Police: 8-Year-Old Tells Drunken Mom To 'Stop Driving'
POTTSTOWN, Pa. (CBS) – A Montgomery County woman has been charged with driving under the influence and endangering the welfare of a child after allegedly crashing into several parked cars, while her daughter pleaded with her to stop driving.
Keilana Scurry, 35, was arrested after police heard her 8-year-old daughter yelling "No, no, don't drive anymore, we are going to get into another accident," according to an affidavit.
On February 25, Pottstown police were dispatched to the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. for reports of a hit-and-run accident.
Officers spoke with an eyewitness who said a white minivan operated by a woman wearing a red hat struck two parked cars on the block before fleeing.
Police located the vehicle attempting to park in the 300 block of Union Alley, however this effort proved unsuccessful as the front wheel was badly damaged.
At this time, police say they witnessed a child, later identified as Scurry's young daughter, exit the vehicle and begin to scold her mother.
Scurry then exited the vehicle and appeared to be "extremely intoxicated."
Scurry was placed under arrest, arraigned and released on $10,000 bail, pending a hearing.
