Police: $50K In Merchandise Stolen From Rite Aid Warehouse In Bucks County

FALLS Twp., Pa., (CBS) -- Authorities in Bucks County say they have arrested three men who they say allegedly stole an estimated $50,000 worth of items from a Rite Aid warehouse to supply a makeshift convenience store run out of the basement of a home in Philadelphia.
Falls Township police Lt. Henry Ward says they were tipped off to the operation by a citizen around 3 a.m. Thursday.
"They saw a Rite Aid tractor trailer pulled into a darkened parking lot with a pickup truck parked behind it, and it looked like people were offloading merchandise from the Rite Aid tractor trailer," Lt. Ward said.
Police were able to track down that pickup truck, which was loaded with about $2,000 worth of stolen goods. Forty-six-year-old Juan Agosto and 51-year old Edwin Burgos admitted they got the stolen goods for pennies on the dollar from the driver of the tractor trailer, later identified as 53-year-old Miguel Ortiz. But when authorities executed a search warrant at Agosto and Burgos' home on North 7th Street in Philadelphia, Ward says they were shocked at what was in the basement.
"It appears as if a makeshift convenience store was set up inside that home," he said.
All three men were arraigned, and sent to Bucks County prison on $75,000 bail.
Authorities are still investigating the scope of the operation, and say more arrests could be made in the coming weeks.
