Police: 2 Killed In Accident On Route 309 In Montgomery County
FORT WASHINGTON, Pa. (CBS) – Police say two people have died following a two-car crash in Montgomery County Monday afternoon.
The crash happened at about 1:15 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Route 309 near the Camp Hill Road overpass in Fort Washington. Police say two people were pushing a disabled vehicle when they were struck by a passing car.
(UPDATE: Officials later said the two people killed had not been pushing their disabled car. See related story.)
Investigators say both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
One person inside the striking vehicle suffered minor injuries.
The northbound lanes of Route 309 were closed for hours due to police investigation and was reopened a little before 6:30 p.m.
