Man Dead In Bucks County Home Invasion, Police Searching For 2 Armed Suspects
HILLTOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) – Police are searching for at least two suspects after a deadly home invasion in Bucks County.
At about 10 a.m., police were called to the scene at a home in the 300 block of Swartley Road in Hilltown Township.
Investigators say that two armed suspects entered the home and tied up three occupants inside -- a man, his girlfriend and one of the children. The second child had left the home earlier in the morning to go to school.
During the incident, police say the male victim, identified as 48-year-old Joseph Canazaro, was killed. He was discovered in a different room than where the victims were originally bound.
Police believe the suspects were in the house for several hours before the woman and child were able to free themselves and run to a neighbors home for help. They suffered minor injuries during the incident.
Currently, police say they are searching for two suspects who they believe fled the scene in the victim's 2006 black Lincoln pick-up truck with the registration ZCT-9659. The first suspect is described as a Hispanic male standing approximately 5'9" tall and the second suspect is described as an Asian male with a smaller build who was wearing a black jacket and cargo pants. Both suspects were wearing masks at the time and were armed with handguns.
Additionally, investigators notified branches of TD Bank and Bank of America in the area to be on alert regarding the possibility that bank books were stolen during the home invasion.
Police added during a 1 p.m. news conference that they believe the suspects also stole several weapons and say the suspects should be considered armed and dangerous
During a second news conference shortly before 4 p.m., Hilltown Twp. Police Chief Chris Engelhart confirmed that the pickup truck, which was unoccupied, was located around 3:50 p.m. in upper Bucks County. It was later confirmed to have been found in the parking lot of a strip mall in Quakertown.
