Polanco To Undergo MRI On Left Hip
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Phillies will be without Placido Polanco when they open a three-game series against the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Monday. The All-Star third baseman is back in Philadelphia where he will undergo an MRI on his sore left hip.
Polanco was replaced by Michael Martinez late in the game on Saturday afternoon, and then left San Francisco before the start of the Phillies' series finale with the Giants on Sunday.
Polanco says he's been dealing with this hip problem -- without treatment -- for a while, and that it's not related to the bench-clearing incident on Friday night where Giants catcher Eli Whiteside attempted to tackle him.
It's unclear how much time Polanco will miss with this latest injury, though another stint on the disabled list is a possibility.
Polanco was recently activated from the 15-day DL after being sidelined with a lower back problem – an issue he believes is also unrelated.
