Pocono Ski Resorts Headed For Their Last Gasps of the Winter Season

STROUDSBURG, Pa. (CBS) -- If you're looking for that final run down the slopes this ski season, head to the Pocono Mountains, where most of the resorts are still open -- but maybe not for long.
There are seven ski resorts in the Poconos, and six of them are still open, at least through this weekend.
A couple of them have decided to extend their ski season into the first two weeks of April. The others will decide whether to continue operations based on the weather.
Elizabeth Richardson, spokeswoman for the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, says the season got underway early this winter and appears to have been good overall -- despite some bitter cold weekends.
"There's been such a great base this year," she said. "I mean, it's snowed so much -- plus, with their capabilities of making snow and it being cold enough."
Even if the weather stays cold and they want to stay open longer, she says, the resorts need to start thinking about changing over their equipment for their spring activities.
In the next few weeks, she adds, they'll get an idea of how well the area did this season, financially.
