PNC Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested In New Castle
NEWARK, Del. (CBS) - Using numerous tips from the public, Delaware State Police arrested a man in connection to a robbery of a PNC Bank.
Thomas J. Wingfield, 34, of Newark, was arrested Sunday morning after police say he robbed a PNC Bank in the unit block of University Plaza Friday morning at about 9:40.
The suspect reportedly approached a bank teller, produced a note announcing a robbery, and demanded cash from the teller. Police say the bank teller turned over an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect who then fled from the scene.
No injuries were reported during the robbery.
After receiving tips from the public, police were able to connect the robbery to Wingfield. Delaware State Troopers were able to located the suspect at the Dutch Inn Motel in New Castle. Wingfield was taken into custody without incident.
Wingfield was arrested and charged with robbery and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
