Plenty To Do If You're Staying In Town For Memorial Day Weekend

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - If you're not headed down the shore this weekend for Memorial Day, there's plenty to do right here in and around Philadelphia.
Meryl Levitz with the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation says Memorial Day weekend in Philadelphia is full of events. For example you can celebrate the holiday all week long at the National Constitution Center.
"They even have a patriotic karaoke station that's open from 10-3, American Pride-themed arts and crafts; you get a lesson in flag etiquette and a giant flag-folding exercise that's going to be so big that it's outside on the front lawn!"
Levitz says the Memorial Day weekend is all about green spaces and picnics. So, why not visit Franklin Square?
"They have their famous lightning bolt express from 12-3 each of the days and of course you can eat at Square Burger, ride around the Liberty Park carousel and challenge friends and family to a game of Philly mini-golf."
And some institutions are open for the holiday. "We're happy to say that the Art Museum is open on Monday, you know it's usually closed on Monday."
The Historic Philadelphia Center has events for kids all weekend, "From marching in a military drum parade to knowing the etiquette of musketry."
And for those who like to party, "The Hidden City Festival Block Party is where you will have food trucks and dance up a storm at the Reading Viaduct."
