Please Touch Museum Brings Election Day Excitement To Younger Set

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Today isn't election day only for voters who are age 18 or over.
The Please Touch Museum, in Fairmount Park, is hosting a get-out-and-vote campaign for a much younger audience, giving them an early look into elections and how to make informed decisions.
For them, the choices aren't Chris Christie vs. Barbara Buono, or Seth Williams versus Daniel Alvarez. Kids at the Please Touch Museum were voting on their favorite book from among those read to them at story time.
Open This Little Book was Lana's vote for best book.
"It was a cute book, because it had all these little pages that got smaller and then it got bigger," she said.
Stacey Swigart, director of collections and content and the museum's curator, says this program is really about giving kids their first chance to get acclimated to the democratic process.
"Kids learn about voting and elections, presidents, governors, senators, all that fun stuff," she tells KYW Newsradio.
The winner for the favorite book will be announced during the museum's "Celebrate Stories Month," early next year.
