Pit Bull Awareness Day
By Nan Talleno
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Elle the Pit Bull was named 2013 Hero Dog of the Year for her work as a successful therapy dog in North Carolina. Her work has helped so many. Many other Pit Bulls have also made headlines in the news this year as rescuers and heroes who have protected their families from impending danger and harm such as from fire. But tragically, too many people still cling to a falsely negative stereotype of this brave and noble breed.
The Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter invite everyone to learn the true facts and lose the unnecessary fear about these amazing dogs on Pit Bull Awareness Day on Saturday, Oct. 26 from noon to 3 pm.
Anyone who visits the Burlington County Animal Shelter during this special event can learn an informative and amazing Pit Bull fact, as well as receive a special treat. Also the hugely popular Kiss-A-Bull kissing booth will be open for business. There also will be a parade of loving and devoted shelter Pit Bulls who long for a family and forever home, available that day for adoption.
From Oct.24-31, adoption fees will be waived for anyone who submits an application to adopt one of these amazing and loving dogs.
