Pilot Killed In Single-Engine Airplane Crash In Delaware
DOVER, Del. (CBS) -- One person was found dead after emergency crews located the wreckage of a small plane that crashed in Dover, Delaware on Sunday evening.
Delaware State Police say the wreckage is believed to be that of a single engine fixed-wing plane that was reported missing when it vanished off radar shortly after 7 p.m. after an emergency call was placed to the control tower on Dover Air Force Base.
Police say members of the Little Creek Volunteer Fire Company located the wreckage around 9:35 p.m. in a wooded area near White Oak Road, west of Long Point Road and east of Route 1 in Dover.
The pilot, who was the only occupant of the plane, was killed in the crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause the crash.
