Phils Open Series in Toronto, Shooting For Third Straight Win
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – After picking up back-to-back wins for the first time this month to wrap up the series in Minnesota, the Phillies move to Toronto for a weekend three-game series with the Blue Jays.
The Phillies have really benefited on this road trip from the hot bat of Jim Thome. Serving as the Phillies DH here in these interleague games in AL parks, Thome has gone 11 for 24 with 3 home runs (including a three-run shot in last night's win) and 13 runs batted in.
Vance Worley will get the start on the hill tonight. The right-hander is 3-2 this season with an ERA of three. He has yet to get a decision since returning from a stint on the disabled list (2 starts). Worley has never faced the Blue Jays.
Toronto starts rookie right-hander Drew Hutchinson in this series opener. He has made 10 starts here in 2012, going 5-3 with a 4.66 ERA.
KYW's Matt Leon previewed tonight's with Martin Frank, covering this series in Toronto for The News Journal in Delaware.
