Philly Soccer Show: Union Strengthening Amid Search For Manager
By Greg Orlandini
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (CBS) -- It's a busy stretch for the Philadelphia Union, and the KYW Philly Soccer Show has it all for you!
This week, KYW's Greg Orlandini and Philly Soccer Page writer Eli Pearlman-Storch are joined by KYW Newsradio sportscaster Matt Leon.
The Union have made to the final of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup and will face the always-tough Seattle Sounders at PPL Park on September 16th.
They reached the final by winning against FC Dallas, 4-3 on penalty kicks, on Tuesday in Texas, following a 1-1 after extra time.
The Union stay in the Lone Star State tonight to face the Houston Dynamo, in Houston, in MLS play.
Philly is holding onto the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and a win at the Dynamo could solidify that spot.
We then discuss the coaching rumors surrounding the Union. The name being mentioned the most to become the team's new manager is René Meulensteen. The Dutchman has been an assistant with Manchester United, and his last job was the boss at Fulham, of the English Premier League.
